Contribute to Matterhorn

Opencast Matterhorn can only achieve the goal of developing a system for the community if the project is supported by the community. Contributions can take many forms, depending on your ambitions and your level of interest.

For potential adopters who want to follow the project

  • Join the Opencast Community mailing list. We'll use this list to keep the Opencast community informed about the project as it progresses.
  • Consider piloting our 0.5 release, scheduled for January 2010 (more information coming soon!)

For those who want to have a voice in the direction of Matterhorn

  • Join the Opencast Matterhorn mailing list. This very active list is the main mode of communication among the Matterhorn team members. Feel free to participate in discussions to convey your perspective.
  • Look for email over this list tagged "#proposal" to have a say in the development of Matterhorn.
  • Join our online meetings - as a lurker, as an active participant, as a note-taker (very welcome!)
  • Enter JIRA to make community requests.

For those who want to lend a hand to the project

  • Participate in various working groups - help us do customer research, comparative analysis or technical analysis. Opportunities will be announced on list.
  • If you have technological expertise, skills or ideas you think could contribute to the Matterhorn project, talk to our developers about how to get involved.
  • Peruse the Opencast Matterhorn wiki for current status on areas of design and development that interest you.

Your contributions will make Matterhorn a better product in that it is based upon the expertise and the initiative of many instead of a few.
