The National University of Ireland, Galway (Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh) is based on the west coast, and has over 15,000 students spanning all traditional academic disciplines. 

Learning Technologies within the university are developed and supported by the Centre for Excellence in Learning & Teaching (CELT) the staff of which participate in national and international projects in digital repositories, innovative pedagogies, computer-aided language learning, multimedia design and staff development and training.
